Synopsis
«Gagarin. Embracing the World» is a documentary dedicated to Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet cosmonaut pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union, holder of the highest insignia and honorary citizen of many cities in Russia and foreign countries. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person in world history to fly into outer space. From that day on, the era of human space exploration began. In 2024, we celebrate the 90th anniversary of his birth.
The film is based on chronicle footage of Yuri Gagarin’s world tour “Mission of Peace”, interviews with cosmonauts and space industry professionals, as well as the narrative of the unique task of the “Dialogue of Cultures – One World” International Foundation.
It aims to preserve the legacy of Yuri Gagarin. Since 2011, in memory of the great feat accomplished by the Soviet cosmonaut pilot, the Foundation has been donating sculptures dedicated to Yuri Gagarin to the peoples of the world. Monuments and busts of Gagarin, on the initiative of the Foundation, have been installed in famous universities, museums, research centers, observatories, and planetariums in more than 60 countries around the world.
«Gagarin. Embracing the World» will not only remind the audience about Yuri Gagarin’s flight, but also highlight that core values are the same among people in different countries and cultures. The film tells how important it is to appreciate the diversity of the world and reminds that the dialogue of cultures is the way to balance and harmony on the planet.
